French origin mistaken
This 1954 publication provides abundant genealogical information for certain American family lineages using variants of the DeArmond surname. However, with all the information before him, the author ignored clues to the true Irish origin of the name variant and instead used his romantic imagination to elaborate the long held myth that the name originated from a few noble Frenchmen. Repeated Y chromosome DNA test results of men with a DeArmond surname variant show purely native Irish markers.
I have created a blog containing extensive detail to support my assertions about the inaccuracy of the book's opening chapter about noble French Huguenot origin. It can be found at dearmondnameorigin.blogspot.com
